Mary Macleod chairs Public Meeting on Brentford FC’s new stadium
Local MP Mary Macleod chaired a packed Public Meeting last week to discuss plans for the new Brentford FC stadium. On the panel were local Chiswick Councillors and representatives from Brentford FC.
On 31st May 2013, Brentford FC submitted their full planning application for the new stadium, together with a request for outline planning permission for residential units and a hotel, which would be built after the stadium is completed.
Hundreds of people attended the meeting at St Paul’s Church in Grove Park and raised a range of concerns ranging from the number, type and style of residential units planned, the impact on traffic and congestion in the area and how match days would be policed.
Mary said:
“It was good to see so many people turn up at the public meeting to discuss the future of the new Brentford FC stadium. It showed how important this project is to the local community. Whilst some people at the meeting were very supportive, there were also many residents present who had some real concerns about the planning application relating to the number of residential units and the impact of the new stadium on traffic, congestion, parking and local train stations.
“Personally, I have always been supportive of the Club’s aspirations as they progress towards the Championship. However, I do think that residents’ concerns about the impact of the development need to be addressed and I will continue to work together with all involved parties over the coming months to do this.”
