Culture Secretary visits Osterley Park

The Culture Secretary, Rt Hon. Sajid Javid MP, visited Osterley Park yesterday to see how the National Trust, in partnership with Sport England, is opening up its land for sport.

The Sports Partnership, which was launched in March 2013, combines some of the Trust’s locations with the expertise of Sport England. It was set-up to inspire more people to take part in sport across National Trust properties, from beginners to enthusiasts.

Following a tour of Osterley House, famous for its appearance in major productions such as Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, the Culture Secretary joined local MP Mary Macleod and representatives from the National Trust for a game of Ping Pong.

Local MP Mary Macleod MP said:

“It was a pleasure to bring the Culture Secretary to Osterley Park. It is a wonderful location - in London, but not quite of London. I would encourage everyone to come and see the grounds, and take part in the free sport now on offer”.

The Culture Secretary, Rt Hon. Sajid Javid MP, said:

I would encourage people from all across London, and indeed the whole country, to go and see places like Osterley Park and get involved in sport at some of the country’s best loved locations”.
