Local MP Mary Macleod invites Zac Goldsmith to constituency
Meeting with local business owners and members of the community highlights key issues
Local MP Mary Macleod joined forces with Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond, and met with locals from the constituency to discuss the issues which matter most to them.
Issues raised include:
- Lack of affordable housing in the borough
- Possible third runway at Heathrow
- Arms trading
- Lack of financial support for small businesses after setup
- Less financial support for advisors than in previous years
- Risk of overuse of antibiotics in farming
At the event, these issues were raised by the public and both Zac Goldsmith and Mary Macleod were able to give both viewpoints and possible solutions to the issues, an example being an expansion of Gatwick rather than Heathrow, with this issue being of particular importance as both constituencies are affected by Heathrow directly.
Mary Macleod MP, said:
“It is crucial that MP’s listen to their constituents and act on issues which they are concerned about. Certain issues such as the lack of financial support being offered to small businesses are hugely important as without small businesses the UK economy will not be able to grow. Making MP’s aware of issues such as this are vital in improving the constituency and the UK as a whole.”
