New information obtained by local MP Mary Macleod shows that the distance between Acton and Hammersmith stations, the two closest Piccadilly Line stops to Turnham Green, is the largest on the line on which there are no permanent stops.
The distance - almost four and a half kilometres - is even larger than the difference between Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3 and Heathrow Terminal 4.
Mary said:
“This is just even more proof that Piccadilly Line trains should be stopping at Turnham Green regularly. With Chiswick and West London as a whole drawing in even more business than before, we need proper transport links to make it the best it can be.”
“Let’s also not forget the huge convenience it would bring to local people commuting to work and tourists keen to visit our wonderful area.”
A consultation on the Piccadilly Line is currently being developed by Transport for London, encouraged last year by Mary’s campaign to get the Mayor to review how often Piccadilly Line trains stop at Turnham Green station. The consultation will consider the views of passengers in the Turnham Green area and the wider travelling public.
The consultation is due to begin early this year.
