During a visit this week to The Mulberry Centre with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, local Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Mary Macleod promised to further the work being done by the charity to help victims of cancer and their families if she is re-elected.
Jeremy Hunt was keen to learn more from those he met about their experiences of the NHS and the services provided to people affected by cancer. He was quick to praise the efforts being made by The Mulberry Centre to offer counselling and therapy, and eager to hear the thoughts of the staff and volunteers on how a future Conservative Government could work to improve things for all those living with cancer.
Following their visit the Health Secretary joined Mary Macleod to meet local residents on Chiswick High Road. Asked about his time in Brentford & Isleworth, Mr Hunt commented:
“It was a great pleasure to accompany Mary to meet with the staff and volunteers of The Mulberry Centre. I was hugely impressed by their tireless efforts in helping people deal with the burden of cancer, and I was glad to hear their thoughts about our government’s record in supporting those affected.
"I was also delighted to join Mary on the campaign trail. She has done an outstanding job for her constituents as MP for Brentford and Isleworth over the last five years.”
Mary added:
“I wanted to show the Health Secretary the fantastic work being done by the staff and volunteers at The Mulberry Centre. They are making a real difference to the lives of those suffering from cancer and their families, and I was pleased to be able to demonstrate my commitment to helping The Mulberry Centre achieve all that it aims to for those who benefit from its vital services.
“In our Manifesto, we pledged to lead the world in fighting cancer. I will keep working with great local organisations like the Mulberry Centre so we can play our part here in west London”.
