Local MP invites Culture Secretary to Gunnersbury Park
Local MP Mary Macleod organised for the Rt Hon Maria Miller MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, to tour Gunnersbury Park Museum last Thursday and talk to some of the people involved with its campaign for restoration.
Mary organised this visit in support of the campaign to raise funds to restore Gunnersbury Park House and develop and expand the museum, allowing its collections to inspire learning and creativity as well as promoting local heritage.
Commenting, Mary said:
“I know the Secretary of State was impressed by Gunnersbury House and particularly enjoyed seeing the museum. We are so lucky to have a public park as large as Gunnersbury, with so many elegant buildings within the grounds. Listed buildings need upkeep however, so I was delighted when the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant to the Park last year. I will continue to do what I can to support Gunnersbury in the future and I wish it continued success with future Lottery applications”.
Commenting, the Rt Hon Maria Miller MP said:
“Gunnersbury House and the wonderful museum inside is a great way for local people to keep in touch with the past. It is fantastic that Heritage Lottery is able to support projects like this and I hope Gunnersbury goes from success to success in the future”.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has given over £6 billion since it was established in 1994. Gunnersbury Park is one of over 36,000 projects to have received support.
