Piccadilly line consultation launched today
Local MP Mary Macleod and her Turnham Green Action Team have today launched the consultation campaign for Piccadilly line trains to stop at Turnham Green Tube Station during the day.
The consultation will run from 27th August to 7th October and invites local people to have their say on stopping at Turnham Green.
Mary and her team were outside Turnham Green Station this morning, handing out leaflets and telling commuters and local residents how to get involved in the consultation. She also announced an online petition that residents could sign, to be handed in to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
Earlier last week, Boris praised Mary for her role in securing the consultation. He said:
“I want to congratulate Mary for her tireless and determined campaigning for her constituents in Chiswick to have more trains stopping at Turnham Green station. We have discussed this many times, and as a result, I am pleased to announce a consultation this autumn.
“It is important that local residents contribute to the forthcoming consultation, so that Transport for London can take into account the views of residents in making their final decision, and I know that Mary will be leading that charge.”
Mary said:
“I was delighted to launch the consultation today to get residents’ voices heard on stopping at Turnham Green. I really want Chiswick people to get involved in this consultation and I would encourage everyone to sign the petition and get in touch with TfL. I absolutely believe that this change is achievable and will both improve the lives of local people and invigorate businesses”.
