Hundreds of people looking for work have taken advantage of the second annual West London Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair, held at West Thames College. The event, organised by local MP Mary Macleod, saw forty-five businesses with work, training and volunteering opportunities exhibit to over 1,000 people.
Mary commented:
“It was a fantastic event this year and I am delighted we were able to offer so much to local people on the day. I would like to say thank you to everyone involved, including Heathrow who kindly sponsored the event, to West Thames College who were excellent hosts, and to the Chronicle for their support”.
“The Fair was all about helping local people to find work and we’ve been able to offer them a huge range of opportunities: from seminars and workshops, to special one-to-one sessions with expert employers such as bSkyb, Barclays, Microsoft and RBS. We do have relatively low unemployment here in West London, but we can always do more and I really think this event will go some way in addressing that.”
The Jobs Fair was also visited by the Mayor of Hounslow and the London Deputy Mayor for Business and Enterprise, Kit Malthouse. Mr Malthouse, commenting on the event, said:
“I was delighted to attend the West London Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair on Thursday 11th April. It was a remarkable event which I am sure will have achieved its aim in connecting local people with the many fantastic businesses we have in West London”.
“Not only that, but the strength and content of the seminar programme on offer on the day was excellent and I am glad so many people attended to take advantage of the opportunity.”
