On Wednesday the 21st November, 250 local residents attended a public meeting in St Paul’s Church in Brentford to hear from Ballymore about their plans to regenerate Brentford High Street.
Local MP Mary Macleod attended the event to listen to the developer’s plans and engage with local residents about their thoughts and opinions. Mary made a plea to Hounslow Council that there be real transparency and engagement with the local community over any subsequent planning application. She also enquired how the Mayor’s Outer London Fund would be used to support the regeneration of the high street.
The London Borough of Hounslow encouraged residents to contact Mr Sunny Desai, the environment officer at the London Borough of Hounslow who is responsible for this application at [email protected] in order to express their views.
The London Borough of Hounslow said that £1 million of capital investment from the Mayor’s Outer London Fund remains to be spent by March 2014 to introduce connectivity between the Great West Road and the High Street. There will be an imminent public consultation on how the money will be spent.
Mary said “I was delighted to see so much interest from Brentford residents at the public meeting on Wednesday. It was very well attended and many informed and interesting questions were asked by the public. It shows that local people really care about what happens to their local community.
I believe that this is a unique opportunity for regenerating Brentford High Street, and so it is important that we get it right. Brentford has a really strong community and that will be really important as we design a new structure to make Brentford “even more brilliant!”
