Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Secretary Andrea Leadsom campaigned in Hounslow today as part of the campaign to elect Mary Macleod and win the Brentford & Isleworth seat for the Conservatives.
Andrea spent the afternoon talking to residents and discussing national and local issues in the Hounslow Heath ward of the Brentford & Isleworth Constituency. She then accompanied Mary and team to visit a local food business, Anila’s Sauces (www.anilassauces.com) which has grown from the kitchen of Anila Vaghela into a successful commercial food operation.
Andrea said: “Mary has been an excellent advocate for Brentford & Isleworth since she was first elected in 2010, and it was a pleasure to be out campaigning with her today and meeting local residents. Mary has always been a great champion for local enterprises across her constituency. As the Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, I particularly enjoyed visting Anila’s today in Hounslow to see how her wonderful handmade authentic sauces are made and would very much recommend them after tasting them!
“I know that if Mary is returned to be your MP she will be a strong voice for you in Westminster and I really look forward to working with her again.”
Mary said: “I was delighted to welcome Andrea to Hounslow today to meet local residents and join me in a visit to Anila’s. Anila started her business back in 1992, filling jars for colleagues at work with her wonderful sauces. I am proud that Theresa May and the Conservatives are the party for business and I want to continue to support businesses like Anila’s who take pride in their work and are the lifeblood of our economy if I have the honour of being selected as your MP on June 8th.”
