Mary Macleod cuts ribbon at the opening of the newly refurbished TASHA Foundation
TASHA Foundation opened the doors to it’s newly refurbished Internet Café and Training Rooms on Friday 23rd July. Mary Macleod MP was delighted to be on hand to cut the ribbon to formally open the new facilities.
Mary said: “Addiction problems and substance dependency pose significant problems in our society today and the work that TASHA Foundation undertakes is so vital in helping people through this and to find long-term employment and stability in their lives. The Internet Café provides a much-needed community resource as well as an excellent base for TASHA to continue its excellent work. ”
TASHA Foundation was established in 1991 to support people with addiction problems and the mental health issues that can accompany such problems. Since its inception it has over 37,000 people who have accessed counselling via its out-of-hours helpline, group therapy or one-to-one sessions. They also provide vital training in IT and other work skills as well as support on housing to help those on the road to recovery build their future.
Mary said: “I commend the work that TASHA are doing in the community and look forward to working with them over the coming years. I wish them all the very best with their Internet café and would encourage local residents to pop in and give it a try – you will be sure of a warm welcome.”
