Local MP Mary Macleod has welcomed the support of business ahead of the West London Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair. The event, which will see hundreds of work and training opportunities brought to local residents, will be hosted by West Thames College on Friday 30th March. The initiative has been organised by local MP Mary Macleod and is supported by BAA in conjunction with Jobcentre Plus.
Mary commented, “The West London Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair will be a great opportunity for people seeking work to find the job opportunities and training that will help them on their way to work. I am delighted that so many small, medium and large businesses have said that they will attend and bring with them a significant number of vacancies.”
Anyone seeking work is invited to attend the event. However, only businesses that are currently looking to recruit have been invited to exhibit. Mary added, “As we are only having organisations that are actively recruiting we are delighted to have so many names such as G4S, Sky, Virgin Media, UPS, British Airways and Arise involved, as well as many other significant local employers.”
Local people will also be invited to take part in a series of seminars and workshops including a ‘CV healthcheck’ run by Barclays and an Apprenticeship Seminar with West Thames College. Mary added, “Despite having a range of innovative and growing companies locally, as many as 60% of people who work in Hounslow do not live in the Borough. The purpose of the Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair is to put people in touch with the job opportunity or apprenticeship that is right for them. I hope that the involvement of these major businesses will encourage more people to come and check out what opportunities are on offer. For someone finding it difficult to get work this just might be the event to help steer them in the right direction”
