Mary Macleod MP leads local debate on Hounslow Healthcare
Local MP Mary Macleod welcomed the Minister for Public Health, Anne Milton MP, to a meeting on the future of healthcare at the Heart of Hounslow clinic in Bath Road.
The Minister and Mary, who were joined by representatives from NHS Hounslow, Hounslow PCT, West Middlesex University Hospital and Hounslow Council, spent the morning discussing the Government’s planned reforms to the NHS.
The Minister took the opportunity to reassure the group that the Government believes passionately in the NHS and the aim of the reforms is to improve outcomes for individual patients. The Government is set to invest £11.5 billion in the NHS over the next 4 years.
Mary commented: “I am delighted that the Minister took the time to come and meet with local doctors and health professionals in my constituency. It was a chance for people involved to talk openly about their ideas and feedback about local healthcare and the upcoming changes within the NHS.
“It was very encouraging to hear the progress that the local Great West Commissioning Consortium (GWCC) is making. The GWCC, under the excellent leadership of Dr Nicola Burbidge, has shown great initiative and dynamism in embracing the upcoming changes and I have every faith that they will do all they can to deliver better patient care across the Hounslow borough.”
