Mary Macleod MP joined Zac Goldsmith MP, Assembly Member Tony Arbour, Syed Kamall MEP and other local representatives to present a petition of thousands of signatures to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street today.
The petition was gathered at the Heathrow Mega Rally that took place at Barn Elms in April with Mayor Boris Johnson and other MPs from all parties.
In October last year, the Government announced the Airports Commission, headed by Sir Howard Davies, to look at how to maintain the UK’s aviation capacity. Expansion of Heathrow is one option that is being assessed as part of this work.
Mary said: “This petition is a clear and visual display of the strength of feeling against Heathrow expansion in west London.
“The policy of this Government is for no further expansion at Heathrow and we must continue to listen and fight for what local residents want on this issue.”
