Local MP Mary Macleod has asked to meet with Hounslow Council to discuss what preparations have been made for those affected by the imminent closure of Chiswick Day Centre.  The call comes after local campaigners decided to withdraw court action against the decision after taking legal advice last week.

Mary commented, “Chiswick Day Centre provides a vital service for the local community and I am saddened that the Council has decided to close it. The priority now is to make sure that those who used the service have adequate alternatives in place. After speaking with some of those affected by the closure I am concerned that this may currently not be the case.

“I have asked to meet with the Council to discuss these concerns with them. I would also like to ask them about their plans for the building as I am interested to discuss with them the possibility of bringing in an alternative community care provider. Despite the judicial review case being withdrawn last week I still believe that there are a number of ways that we can support those who use the centre and I will continue to fight for them to get the care they need. The centre could continue to be a great resource for the local community if the Council agreed to work with others to help those in need.”
