Local MP celebrates two years to go to Rugby World Cup 2015
Today marks just two years to go until England hosts Rugby World Cup 2015. London will be one of the 10 host cities in England and play a key role in the delivery of the tournament.
The Rugby World Cup is one of the world’s biggest sporting events with a potential global TV audience in excess of four billion. There will be a total of 48 matches played, with 20 nations competing over 44 days, some of which in nearby Twickenham.
Mary said: “I am really pleased to see the tournament come to London and I know that the whole city will embrace the visiting teams and fans and ensure that we are part of a truly great celebration of rugby.”
“I am particularly pleased to hear about their volunteering programme. 75% of RWC 2015 volunteers will come from rugby clubs – people that know and understand the game and support it passionately week in week out. Along with the RFU’s Young Ambassador Scheme, there is so much to look forward to”.
