Mary Macleod urges Boris to listen to Chiswick with 4,000 signature petition
Yesterday evening, local MP Mary Macleod personally delivered the signatures of nearly 4,000 local residents calling for Piccadilly line trains to stop at Turnham Green station throughout the day to London Mayor Boris Johnson at City Hall.
Transport for London’s (TfL’s) public consultation on the matter will close at midnight on Monday 7th October, so this is the last chance for residents to complete the online survey and petition.
Mary said:
‘It was great to take the voices of Chiswick residents directly to the Mayor’s doorstep. Stopping the Piccadilly line at Turnham Green station throughout the day will improve lives and is something Chiswick residents have wanted for decades. I am pleased that so many have decided to support our campaign. Well over 13,000 people have already replied to TfL’s consultation, but we must ensure that Chiswick is well represented in the responses. So please encourage your friends, family and neighbours to complete the online survey. It is crucial that as many people as possible answer “yes” to both questions 7 and 8 on the survey. I am positive that we can find a way to stop Piccadilly line trains at Turnham Green without disrupting the rest of the line.’
Alongside TfL’s consultation, Mary has organised an online petition that has gained over 2,400 signatures, calling on TfL and the Mayor of London to take action to stop Piccadilly line trains at Turnham Green.
Mary added:
“This is the last chance to sign the petition, so I strongly encourage all who have not already done so to sign it so that we can let TfL and the Mayor of London know how we feel about Piccadilly line trains stopping at Turnham Green. Please also encourage your friends and family in other parts of London to sign up too.”
