Mary leading efforts in school search

Local MP Mary Macleod has applauded the progress being made to find a site for a much needed new school, and has pledged to continue working with the Mayor of London to make it happen.

In August, Mary contacted the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, to alert him to the urgent need for a new school in the Hounslow Borough, suggesting the Commerce Road bus station as a potential site. Mary has now been informed that Transport for London commissioned a study to explore sites for the possible relocation of the bus station, and has narrowed the list down to just one potential location. The study, which is being jointly undertaken by ISIS, the land owner, could pave the way for a new school on the site.

Mary said:

“I am very pleased to receive news from the Mayor of London that a potential site has been found to re-house the bus station. This means that we are one step closer to achieving something which is essential for Hounslow. With the population of the Borough expanding at its current rate, we need to act now to ensure that there are enough places at excellent schools to provide for all of our children.”

TfL and ISIS will continue to discuss the potential new site and Mary has pledged to work alongside the Mayor of London as the process continues to move forward.
