Local MP supports Brentford Air Cadets in Rocket Competition
Local MP, Mary Macleod, has praised the students from Ealing and Brentford Air Training Cadets, who are participating in the UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge. This week, the cadets will take part in the regional stage of the competition, which sees teams across the country design, build and launch rockets.
The students, aged between 11 and 18, will be asked to create rockets which meet the requirements of vehicles used in real missions, giving them a realistic experience in aerospace design. If the cadets from Brentford and Ealing win the regional round of the competition, they will have the opportunity to represent the UK at the International Rocketry Challenge at the Farnborough International Air Show 2014.
Mary commented:
“The Rocketry Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for young people in West London who are interested in science. It is vital that more young people in the UK are encouraged to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths – especially young women. I’m delighted that local students in Brentford are taking part in this unique initiative and I hope it will inspire them for the future.”
