Mary Macleod has welcomed new figures showing that 1,350 more affordable homes have been built in Hounslow since 2010.
Over 200,000 new affordable homes have been built across England and the figures show Britain is now building more homes than at any time since 2007.
Mary said:
“Under the previous Government, falling levels of housebuilding meant families looking for good quality, affordable homes were unable to find one. 230,000 homes were given planning permission in the last year alone. Also I was delighted to hear the Prime Minister announce that a new Conservative government will build 100,000 new starter homes, for first time buyers only, which will be 20% cheaper than the market price. This will be fantastic for aspiring home owners in Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Osterley and Hounslow.”
Mary also pledged to challenge Hounslow Council on affordable homes for all future developments. She added:
“We are continuing to see huge regeneration, particularly in Brentford, with new housing developments and schools on the horizon. With every new development, I wanted to make sure that the Council have fully considered maximising affordable housing. This is a big priority for local people and I will hold the Council to account on their behalf.”
