Conservative Candidate Mary Macleod has called on Hounslow Council to quickly address problems at Redlees Park play area in Isleworth, which has been closed since September 2014.
Mary visited local constituent and former Olympic rower Jonathan Devlin, who has started a campaign to improve the park and play area. Mr Devlin said:
“Redlees Park is a well-used park by a large number of local residents. The park's playground has been closed since September and with summer approaching there has been no sign of progress to address the closure. As a family we have resorted to driving to other parks and I know there are many local families with young children in the same predicament. As a former Olympian I love getting my children outside and active - It would be fantastic to see a park such as Redlees, with so much to offer, being used to its full potential rather than falling into a state of disrepair.”
Mr Devlin plans to petition Hounslow Council to refurbish and re-open the park and is being supported by Mary and local Conservative Councillor John Todd. Cllr Todd said he was ‘shocked’ to see such as asset closed.
Mary said:
“Redlees Park has been closed for too long, denying local children and parents a fantastic resource. I pay tribute to Jonathan’s campaign and offer him my full support. I urge Hounslow Council and Carillion to act quickly to re-open the park so local children can continue to enjoy it.”
